Besides a great facelift, there is nothing like a tastefully done, well executed eyelid surgery, known as blepharoplasty, to recreate the appearance of youth. As people age, their eyelid skin becomes redundant, superficial fat and fascia waste away, and the deep fat protrudes. The muscles become bigger as a result of the work they’re performing to hold up those heavier eyelids. Blepharoplasty, when properly performed by an experience board certified plastic surgeon or oculoplastic surgeon, can correct these signs of aging.
How Blepharoplasty Works
What is most important in a blepharoplasty is getting an accurate diagnosis of your anatomical issue, as well as performing the correct operation to fix it. If you come to Dr. Hatef for a blepharoplasty consultation, he will do a thorough examination of the form and function of your eyelids. If you are a candidate for a “skin-only” blepharoplasty, Dr. Hatef can remove redundant tissue, and inject some filler and botox. This “skin-only” approach can achieve good results, but the fillers and Botox will need reinjection every so often. If you require more than a “skin-only” blepharoplasty, you will need a formal operation, and Dr. Hatef would likely suggest a facelift in addition to eyelid surgery, to achieve the most harmonious result.
